Frequently asked questions

Where can I download free custom Slack emojis?

This page has 56 free ones (14 animated) as individual files or one ZIP. Community directories such as Slackmojis and Cult of the Party Parrot collect thousands more, mostly memes and party parrots.

How do I upload a custom emoji to Slack?

On desktop, click your workspace name → Tools & settings → Customize workspace → Add Emoji. Upload the image, type a name and click Save. On iPhone, open the emoji menu in a message field and tap Add Emoji. Slack's Android app can't add custom emoji.

What size should a Slack emoji be?

Square, ideally 128×128 pixels, under 128 KB, as PNG, JPG or GIF. Animated GIFs can have up to 50 frames. A transparent background looks best in both light and dark mode. Every file in this pack already meets these limits.

Can I upload many Slack emojis at once?

Not from the standard Slack app — each emoji is added one at a time. Enterprise Grid org admins can script uploads with the admin.emoji.add API method. Third-party browser extensions also automate the upload form; check what access they ask for before installing one.

Why can't I add custom emoji in my workspace?

Workspace Owners can limit who adds custom emoji. If the Add Emoji button is missing, ask an Owner or Admin to upload it or change the permission in workspace settings.

Can I use these emojis in Discord or Microsoft Teams?

Yes. They're plain 128×128 images, which also fit Discord's custom emoji rules and Teams' custom emoji. Use them in any workspace, free.

Licence

Free to use in any Slack, Discord or Teams workspace, personal or commercial. Emoji artwork inside some badges is Twemoji, licensed CC-BY 4.0. Looking for standard emoji codes instead? See the full Slack emoji code list.
